State governments will have to send to the Centre the roadmap for implementation of the decisions and suggestions that emerged during the three-day DGPs conference held here.
Talking to PTI, ADGP (Intelligence) of Gujarat Pramod Kumar said, "Implementation reports will have to be prepared and sent to the Union Home Ministry by each state based on the conclusion that emerged during the conference.
The annual three-day conference of Directors General of Police and Inspectors General of Police organised by the Intelligence Bureau, concluded this afternoon at the tent city built in Dhordo here. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh, Ministers of State for Home Kiren Rijiju and Haribhai Parthibhai Chaudhary also took part in the conference on all three days.
In a marathon session held yesterday, several issues including terror, ISIS and radicalisation of youths were discussed, while other topics like women's safety, police reforms, better inter-state policing, reforms at police station level, steps to bring competitive spirit between police officers, bringing uniformity in police uniforms across India.
"There was a detailed discussion on many issues, a number of decisions were also taken. The PMO gave detailed directions to every state on which compliance report will have to be submitted," Uttrakhand DGP B S Sidhu said.
"There was a lot of difference this time as compared to the previously-held conferences, like the Prime Minister (Narendra Modi) remained present for all the three days and the interactive sessions that were kept this time and the interaction that happened, was not the case in earlier conferences," Sidhu added.
A review of decisions taken in earlier conference was done and new strategies were devised on various topics.
"Radicalisation was discussed in detail as to how various terrorist organisations convert a common person living a straight life to being a hard-core terrorist and ways to tackle it were also part the discussion," he said.
"We discussed how to implement the concept of smart policing which was given by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, how to improve police station functioning, how to bring technology development in policing. Things that are required to increase the efficiency and which increases the sensitivity of police were discussed," he said.
"It was also discussed to increase capacity in cyber world, so that the issue of cyber crime could be tackled," he said.
