The district collector, Archana Patnaik today granted the wish of a 10th Standard student with a life threatening medical condition, by giving her a laptop computer and posing for a photograph.
As part of the "Make a Wish programme", Shakti Jeevitha of St. Josephs School here, sounded a wish that she wanted to be a collector like Archana and wanted to meet, take a photograph and receive a laptop from her.
Accordingly, the Mumbai-headquartered Make A Wish Foundation of India arranged for it and organised a function at Sri Ramakrishna Hospital, during which Archana handed over the laptop to Jeevitha.
The collector also made it a point that the uniformed 'Dawali' (escort) stand by her side to give the feel that Jeevitha was standing by the side of the District Collector.

This year wishes of 5,000 children were granted agaisnt a target of one lakh, based on the diagnose made by various hospitals in the Country. However, such a task needed large number of volunteers to reach such children and also funds, Bhatia said.
Dr Guhan, Director, Sri Ramakrishna Institute Oncology and Research, said that wishes of 20 such children were granted at the function today.
