Sub-inspector shot, injured by militants in Shopian

Suspected militants today shot and injured a police officer in Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir.
Sub-Inspector Gowhar Ahmad was shot by militants in the leg at a field near his residence at Imam Sahib in Shopian, 52 kms from here, around 7 pm, a police official said.
He said the officer was taken to a hospital, from where he was referred to the Bone and Joint hospital here for treatment.
The condition of the injured policeman, who is posted at Anantnag, is stated to be stable.
Ahmad had gone home to celebrate Eid with his family.
