"Sufficient allocation would be made in the budget for strengthening cooperative education and training," Minister of State for Agriculture Mohanbhai Kalyanjibhai Kundariya said at the 62 All India Cooperative Week organized by National Cooperative Union of India (NCUI) here.
Stating that the government is committed to ensure transparency in the working of the cooperatives, the minister said he would work for strengthening of the cooperative movement to ensure cooperatives get autonomy and there are no irregularities/malpractices in their functioning.
NCUI President Chandra Pal Singh Yadav said "the cooperatives are being neglected in the Budget and Planning Process of the government."
He also said that at a RBI High Powered Committee recommendations on privatisation of urban cooperative banks will destroy the legal entity of cooperatives.
Emphasising on the need for ensuring autonomy of cooperatives, he said that the government should not adopt discriminatory approach towards cooperatives.
Around 600 representatives from the youth and cooperative organisation took part in the event. The NCUI's monthly publication "The Cooperator" was released along with Hindi publication "Deepshikha" on the occasion.
