Sugar price up by Rs 40 per quintal on strong demand

Sugar prices went up by Rs 40 per quintal at the wholesale market in the national capital today following strong demand from stockists, retailers and bulk consumers amid tight supplies.
Marketmen said the rise in sweetener prices was mostly attributed to robust demand from stockists, retailers and bulk consumers such as soft-drink and ice-cream makers.
Besides, restricted supplies from mills too influenced trading sentiments, they added.
Sugar ready M-30 and S-30 traded higher by Rs 40 each to conclude at Rs 3,700-3,780 and Rs 3,690-3,770 per quintal.
Mill delivery M-30 and S-30 also advanced by Rs 20 each to end at Rs 3,390-3,490 and Rs 3,380-3,480 per quintal.
In the millgate section, sugar Khatuli spurted by Rs 25 at Rs 3,470, while Kinnoni, Budhana and Thanabhavan up by Rs 20 each at Rs 3,490, Rs 3,420 and Rs 3,410 per quital.
Prices of Mawana, Asmoli, Dhanora, Simbholi, Dhampur and Anupshaher also moved up by Rs 10 each to Rs 3,440, Rs 3,460, Rs 3,400, Rs 3,460, Rs 3,400 and Rs 3,390 per quintal.
