Sugar prices move down on subdued demand

Both the varieties of sugar prices moved down at the Vashi wholesale sugar market here today due to lower demand from stockist and retailers amid ample supplies.
Medium sugar (M-30) dropped by Rs 25 per quintal to Rs 3,172/3,321 from Wednesday's closing level of Rs 3,172/3,346.
Small sugar (S-30) also declined by Rs 2/5 per quintal to Rs 3,070/3,140 as against Rs 3.072/3,145 yesterday.
Following are today's closing rates for sugar (per quintal) with the previous rates given in brackets:
Small sugar (S-30) quality: Rs 3,070/3,140 (Rs 3,072/3,145).
Medium sugar (M-30) quality: Rs 3,172/3,321 (Rs 3,172/3,346).
