Badal said out of 22 sportspersons who have won medals so far, four belong to Punjab.
Congratulating Abhinav Bindra for winning gold in men's 10m Air Rifle, 16-year-old Malaika Goel for bagging a silver in women's 10m Air Pistol, and judokas -- Navjot Chana (silver) and Rajwinder Kaur (bronze), Badal in a statement here said that they have brought laurels to the country and to the state.
Badal said all the winners from Punjab would be honoured by the state government after they return from Glasgow.
With the state government committed to provide an environment, which encourages players to win medals, Badal said that as per the policy laid down by the SAD-BJP government, a cash prize of Rs 16 lakh would be given to the gold medallists, and Rs 11 lakh and Rs 6 lakhs to the silver and bronze medal winners of CWG, respectively.
