The Information and Broadcasting ministry has given permission to a company related to the Sun TV Network to operate five channels that they had bagged in e-auction in the first batch of Private FM Phase III expansion last year.

It is learnt that South Asia FM, which had bid for five channels, has been given clearance by the I&B ministry. Earlier, as the Ministry of Home Ministry had not provided the mandatory security clearance to the company, the permissions had been held up.

Red FM COO Nisha Narayanan confirmed the development and said that permissions have been granted by the ministry for five radio channels which will now come up in Chandigarh, Patna, Amritsar, Surat and Jammu.
