"We have set up this project that will generate 8 MW of electricity at Brake India's facility in Munanjipatti (in Tirunelveli district). The total capital for this project is about Rs 8 per MW, around Rs 66 crore," SunEdison Asia-Pacific President Pashupathy Gopalan told reporters here.
Brakes India Executive Director (Operations and Finance), S Kesavan said the power generated would address the needs of the foundry.
"Our total requirement is around 60 MW. Foundry is the major consumer of power. This will address it", he said.
Besides solar power projects, the company was mulling over foraying into the wind power projects.
"We are also a wind power developer now. We have been focusing only on solar power so far. But now we are quite intensively developing wind projects", he said.
