Suryakumar, Ahlawat in second qualifying round of tennis meet

Srivatsan Suryakumar and Aakash Ahlawat registered close wins to enter the second qualifying round at the USD 3000 RBLATT Asian ranking men's tennis championships here Monday.

Srivatsan edged out Rushabh Gundecha 5-7, 6-2, 11-9, while Ahlawat got past Manvir Singh Randhawa 6-4, 1-6, 10-7 in the opening qualifying rounds.

The second and final rounds will be played Tuesday followed by the main draw matches from Wednesday.

The tournament is organised by Practennis in association with MSLTA under the Auspices of the Asian Tennis Federation (ATF) and All India Tennis Association (AITA) at the Maharashtra State Lawn tennis Association's courts.

The results: Men' singles (1st qualifying round): Dharmil Shah bt Sandeep Kotarkonda 6-4, 7-6(5); Priyank Gangadharan bt Saumil Sakariy 6-1, 6-0; Raghav Jaisinghani bt Raau Parkar 6-1, 6-2; Srivatsan Suryakumar bt Rushabh Gundecha 5-7, 6-2, 11-9; Drona Walia bt Jino Thomas 6-0, 6-1; Aditya Kodakalla bt Abhishek Konar 7-6(2), 6-0; Garry Tokas bt Prashant Sawant 6-1, 6-2; Dhaval Jain bt Tushar Sharma 6-1, 6-0; Aakash Ahlawat bt Manvir Singh Randhawa 6-4, 1-6, 10-7; Aditya Balsekar bt Kshitij Kamal 6-2, 6-2; Vashu Gupta bt Gautam Kale 6-0, 6-2; Rohin Gajree bt Rohan Tainwala 6-1, 6-1.
