Sushil Modi should be BJP's CM candidate in Bihar: Dy Speaker

Senior BJP leader and former Bihar deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi should be party's chief ministerial candidate, deputy speaker of Bihar Assembly Amarender Pratap Singh said today.
Addressing a press conference here, Singh, a four-time BJP MLA from Bhojpur constituency, said Modi was a non-controversial, experienced leader of the party and would be the unanimous choice as the chief ministerial candidate.
Asked whether BJP would project him as the party's chief ministerial candidate in the next Assembly elections, Singh said it would be decided by the party's parliamentary board.
Describing the prevailing scenario post-BJP-JD(U) break up in June last, Singh said the people of Bihar were angry about JD(U)'s decision as they had given the mandate to the alliance.

The people have made up their mind to teach Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar a lesson at an appropriate time, Singh said, strongly denying that the BJP had gained its ground in Bihar because of the JD(U).
"We had contested 102 Assembly seats in the last election and won 93, whereas JD(U) fielded its candidate in 141 seats and won 106," he said, adding BJP had contested 15 Lok Sabha seats and emerged winner in 12.

We had lost two Lok Sabha seats with a slender margin of 1,000 to 1,500 votes, he said asking how BJP can be a second fiddle to the JD(U).

Singh claimed that a strong wave was sweeping across Bihar in favour of BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi, where BJP would make a clean sweep in the next general elections.
About the possibility of the JD(U) joining hands with the Congress in the Lok Sabha elections, Singh said Congress would neither forge an alliance with JD(U), nor reject it.
Congress is in the habit of damaging the prospect of a political party and the Bihar Chief Minister is unaware of this fact, he said.
