A suspended 'Anganwadi Sevika' (health worker) today allegedly attempted suicide by consuming poison in front of the Deputy Commissioner (DC) at the collectorate office demanding the suspension be revoked.
The woman, identified as Rubi Joshi, was immediately admitted at Patliputra Medical College Hospital by district administration.
Dr Ranjan Pandey, Superintendent of PMCH, said that her condition was stable and she was kept in ICU.
The Deputy Commissioner, A Dodde, later said that Joshi suddenly consumed poison in front of him demanding revocation of her suspension order.
Explaining she would have to follow certain procedures for any such appeal, Dodde said, "She will have to appeal in court of deputy commissioner against her suspension."
"But she did not follow procedures and insisted on revocation of the order and her reinstatement in job," the DC said.
The DC said she had been suspended on disciplinary grounds for using unparliamentary words against a senior Dhanbad official Pashupati Nath Singh and other officials of district administration.
Witnesses at the collectorate office said around 2.30 pm, Rubi Joshi went to the office of Dodde requesting revocation of her suspension and when no one took her seriously she suddenly consumed poison.
The woman had been suspended in August last and since then making rounds to the deputy commissioner's office.
IAS officer Madhuri Mishra, ADM law and order Rakesh Dubey, ADM PN Mishra, Sub-divisional Magistrate (SDM) Mahesh Santhalia also reached the medical college hospital to get health condition updates of the lady.
