A seven-member delegation comprising Agricultural Officers and Extension Officers from Swaziland arrived at Haryana Agricultural University (HAU) here today to learn good cultivation practices of maize crop, advocated by the university and followed by Haryana farmers.
"Keeping in view the requirement of Swaziland delegation, a one-week training has been scheduled by the Academy of Agricultural Research and Education Management (AAREM) of the university," said Ram Singh, Director, Human Resource Management of the university.
He said the training would be conducted at the university's Regional Research Station, Uchani, Karnal, where they would be acquainted with all aspects of cultivation of maize, different practices, integrated disease and insect-pest management, machinery and implements, seed production apart from post-harvest technology and baby-corn processing.
On this occasion, the delegation was also apprised of the various technologies of the university identified for commercialisation.
Christopher M, Agricultural Officer and leader of the delegation, said that in Swaziland there are some regions where soil and climatic conditions were almost similar to Haryana and farmers of these regions could be benefited from these technologies.
