Aimed at ensuring more transparency the Telangana Civil Supplies Department today launched 'T-Ration', a mobile application for its card holders.
Telangana Minister for Finance, Consumer Affairs, Food and Civil Supplies Etela Rajender inaugurated the T-Ration Mobile App at Civil Supplies Bhavan here.
According to Civil Supplies Commissioner C V Anand, this T-Ration App erases all the distances between the Government and the beneficiaries. There are a total of 2.75 crore PDS beneficiaries in the state.
Anand said a card holder after downloading this app in his/her mobile can view the live status of Civil Supplies commodity stocks from any place of his comfort and can get direct access to the operational statistics (stock position, distribution pattern and others), precisely of that time in the ration shop concerned.
"This App designed with the help of National Informatics Centre (NIC), also allows the officers concerned to discharge their duties from anywhere by accessing 13 applications positioned for the purpose," he said.
By connecting to this App, and by entering his/her card number, the card-holder virtually can locate the nearest rations shop, and gets the direct access to the live activity of that shop and even know the complete information of several things like the monthly quota allotted, and drawn, how much a card holder is getting, availability of types of commodities, Anand explained.
Apart from this one can also know the status position of their ration card, the stocks available in godowns, loading and unloading details from the seven applications under G2C (services of the Government to its citizen) excluding the 13 applications meant for the Government, he said adding the card holder can even get the transactions made through ePOS (electronic point of sale) machines.
On Ration Shop Location, Anand said the facility of ration portability is already available to all the card holders.
"With this one can draw their ration from any ration shop of their choice other than that allotted to him/her. To make this task much easier to the beneficiary, all the shops are getting geo-tagged," he said.
The Government Service (G2G) section of the App contains 13 applications and is exclusively meant for the officials of the department, he said.
Anand further said a total of 17,500 Fair Price Shops in the state will be fully automated with ePOS machines by November this year, adding "these machines are installed in 8,546 shops spread over in 14 districts. So far 2 crore transactions had taken place."
He said the Civil Supplies Department has a Command Control room centre from where they watch the movement of transport vehicles which carry PDS goods, in real time (in live streaming).
"The closed circuit cameras installed in the godowns would also be linked to this Centre shortly and the department would shortly give a link to Command Centre through this App," he said.
Anand said they are also making arrangements to purchase paddy and other related payments through this App.
"With this common man and the people can watch the activities of the department in the real time from the comforts of their place," Anand added.
