T1 Prima Truck racing championship to be held tomorrow

The stage is set for India's first-ever truck racing championships as 12 Tata T1 Prima vehicle is gearing up to zoom in the lanes of Buddh International Circuit (BIC) here tomorrow.
Twelve experienced British drivers will be competing for six teams at the maiden heavy-duty machine's race.
The racers, in the one-make championship, will use modified Prima trucks having maximum speed of 110 km/hr.
The competition is modelled on the British Truck Racing championship and European Truck Racing championship.
"We have got enormous support from BTRA and will be having experienced drivers in the inaugural race. We will certainly develop this concept (truck racing) in the coming years. We as manufacturers are very much interested in it," said R Ramakrishnan, Senior Vice President (Commercial) of Tata Motors.

"We considered involving Indian drivers. But it was difficult to find 12 Indians who could race. Nevertheless, we have programmes to train truck drivers for racing. Many of our customers and truck drivers will be here tomorrow and we will take their feedback on the racing concept," he said.
The six participating teams, unveiled in a grand ceremony today, include Castrol Vecton, Cummins, Tata Technologies Motorsports, Allied Partners, Dealer Daredevils and Dealer Warriors.
The organisers have followed guidelines from British Truck Racing Association to make the trucks fit for racing and have subsequently made 22 modifications to meet safety and performance needs.
