Tanisha made her acting debut in 2003 film 'Sssshhh' but it failed to garner much attention. The later releases such as 'Popcorn Khao Mast Ho Jao' and 'Tango Charlie' also did not do well.
Now, the 35-year-old actress has been signed by Akshay Kumar's production company for an upcoming Marathi film tentatively titled 'Adhantari'.
Tanisha, who is of Maharashtrian lineage on her mother Tanuja's side, says this is not a shift to Marathi films as such but she liked the script and chose to do it.
In the film, she plays a Marathi girl of today, grown up in London. To get the accent right, Tanisha also took diction lessons.
"Films are in my blood and I know that I will always be a part of this industry," she said. "The surname will always put pressure but it's a good thing. It forces you to push yourself. Kajol (sister) is a brilliant actress because she is a brilliant person," Tanisha said.
"I have been associated with films regardless of whether it was in front of the camera or behind. It was a conscious decision to get into film production to grow in this field," she said.
"I only did a handful of films because honestly I didn't want to work in the kind of offers I was getting. Maybe I did not understand the business as well as I do now. So in the meanwhile I was enjoying donning the producer's hat and looking at the business side of filmmaking," she added.
