Jewellery brand Tanishq's commercials will continue to reflect the country's "diverse nature", its parent company Titan has said in response to a '#Colourmeright campaign', according to Change.org.
Muna Beatty, a Bengaluru-based working mother and customer of Tanishq, had started a petition on Change.org in May.
In a statement issued today, Change.org said Beatty started her petition "after seeing Tanishq's recent campaign Rivaah which made her feel that jewellery commercials need to include dark complexioned women too".
Deepika Sabharwal Tewari, Associate Vice President (Marketing) of Jewellery Division at Titan Company, said: "Tanishq has always stood for diversity and we have consistently made efforts to ensure inclusivity is a cornerstone in all our advertisement work".
"We at Tanishq, truly believe in celebrating the spirit of a woman without any kind of differentiation or bias. We assure you that we will continue to create commercials that reflect the truly diverse nature of the country," she said in a post on Change.org.
According to the website, Beatty, in her petition, wrote that the recent Rivaah campaign, Wedding Jewellery For Every Indian Bride, features "brides of only one skin tone -- fair".
"This petition made change with 1,348 supporters!", as per a message on the website.
"This win is for all those out there who feel invisible on account of their skin colour," Beatty was quoted as saying in the statement.
Change.org is a platform that allows people to start and support campaigns on issues that concern them.
