Tasher Desh shows Bard's relevance in current times : Imaad

Having gathered immense buzz in the international festival circuit for its coloured film motifs and brilliant cinematic craft, director Q's Taser Desh actor Imaad Shah said the forward looking film will extend the frontiers of new cinema.
"With Tasher Desh it is further proved, that passion is not dead and directors like Q will go on questioning the outdated customs and projecting their vision," Imaad, son of Naseeruddin Shah, said before the premier of the film.
"Always known to jolt the established traditions both through his cinematic techniques as well as the topics he makes his films, Q with Taser Desh aims to showcase the relevance of Rabindranath's tale in current times with brilliant images, motifs, shots and colors," Imaad, who played Ruitan in the movie, said.
Rii, who essays Hartani the main female lead of the movie, said "Imaad has played Ruitan sharing most scenes with me. We went to Sri Lanka for outdoor shoots."
"In the film, we had actors from all over the world, including those from Belgium and Sri Lanka. Language was never an issue for any of them. Tasher Desh is an international co-production as Tagore was a world visionary from Bengal," European producer Celine Loop of Entre Chien Et Loup said.
Q, a.K.A Quashik, said 'Tasher Desh' has an eclectic mix of Indian and international celebrated artists to collaborate on the Bard's soundtrack, from Susheela Raman, Sam Mills, Anusheh, Erik Truffaz, Moog Conspiracy and Tanmoy Bose, amongst 18 musicians from nine countries across the globe.
Released on August 23 across 10 screens in Kolkata and four in Mumbai, Tasher Desh, presented by NFDC, Overdose Joint, AKFPL, Dream Digital Inc besides Entre Chien Et Loup, had made rounds to the global festival circuit including having world premiered in competition at the Rome Film Festival 2012.
It had also been screened at the Scarborough Film Festival, Toronto 2013, chosen the official selection at the Imagine:Amsterdam Fantastic Film Festival and most recently at the London Indian Film Festival in 2013.
The film stars Joyraj Bhattacharjee as storyteller.
