"With Tasher Desh it is further proved, that passion is not dead and directors like Q will go on questioning the outdated customs and projecting their vision," Imaad, son of Naseeruddin Shah, said before the premier of the film.
"Always known to jolt the established traditions both through his cinematic techniques as well as the topics he makes his films, Q with Taser Desh aims to showcase the relevance of Rabindranath's tale in current times with brilliant images, motifs, shots and colors," Imaad, who played Ruitan in the movie, said.
"In the film, we had actors from all over the world, including those from Belgium and Sri Lanka. Language was never an issue for any of them. Tasher Desh is an international co-production as Tagore was a world visionary from Bengal," European producer Celine Loop of Entre Chien Et Loup said.
Q, a.K.A Quashik, said 'Tasher Desh' has an eclectic mix of Indian and international celebrated artists to collaborate on the Bard's soundtrack, from Susheela Raman, Sam Mills, Anusheh, Erik Truffaz, Moog Conspiracy and Tanmoy Bose, amongst 18 musicians from nine countries across the globe.
It had also been screened at the Scarborough Film Festival, Toronto 2013, chosen the official selection at the Imagine:Amsterdam Fantastic Film Festival and most recently at the London Indian Film Festival in 2013.
The film stars Joyraj Bhattacharjee as storyteller.
