Seeking an end to the "grave" condition of traffic in and around the Rajiv Gandhi Infotech Park in Hinjawadi near here, an IT professional has launched an online petition requesting Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to resolve the issue.
He also demanded better infrastructure in terms of "roads, transportation and security".
The IT park is one of the largest in the country and houses over 200 firms including Infosys, Wipro, TCS and several others.
Raibhan Sasane said he moved the petition on behalf of the professionals working in the Park.
"Sir for your information, this IT Park is one of the largest IT park in India, and accommodates core development centers for many multinational IT giants.
"This park currently has 3 phases and provides opportunities to millions of IT/ non IT professionals like me. Unfortunately while developing this park (in 2004) we couldn't anticipate the scale on which this park will grow and didn't do enough planning," reads the petition.
It also said, "as a result the working professionals are now stuck with the infrastructure that is not sufficient for it."
"There are talks of new approach roads, but there is no action in that direction...The condition of the existing road is also not good," claimed the plea.
As per the petition, looking at the revenues that this park is generating for the government in the form of taxes and employment, the IT hub deserves much better infrastructure like roads, transportation and security.
"My humble requests on behalf of all my colleagues, look into this and deliver results, as you have been doing always," said the petition.
The plea was moved two days ago and over 1,500 people have signed it so far.
