The victim was killed by her friend Swapnil alias Babu Jadhav, who pierced a sharp rod into her throat yesterday in Kailas Giri Nagar at Gaondevi, inspector Shivshankar Munde of Mumbra Police Station said.
Prior to the incident, both had a quarrel over some issue, he said.
After attacking the girl, the accused fled from the spot, police said, adding the victim's body was found in the bushes in Kailas Giri Nagar.
Mumbra Police has sent the body for postmortem.
