Temperatures drop as rains lash parts of Pb, Haryana

Maximum temperatures today dropped below normal levels in Punjab and Haryana with rains occurring in various parts of the two states.
Chandigarh recorded a maximum temperature of 38.6 degrees Celsius, the MeT Department said here.
In Haryana, Ambala and Hisar recorded the maximum temperatures of 38.4 and 37 degrees Celsius respectively. The two towns also received rainfall of 1.1 mm and 93.1 mm respectively.
Mercury in Karnal and Narnaul settled at 36.4 and 37.5 degrees Celsius respectively, it said.
In Punjab, Amritsar received a rainfall of 18 mm and the maximum temperature was recorded at 39.9 degrees Celsius. Ludhiana and Patiala registered maximum temperatures of 39.8 deg C and 38.2 degrees Celsius respectively, while Patiala received 0.2 mm of rainfall.
Light rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at isolated places in Punjab and Haryana over the next 24 hours, a MeT forecast said.
