Both the groups registered complaints against each other and police filed cases against at least 70 to 80 youths for rioting.
Heavy police bandobast was deployed in the area today.
According to the Airport police, Nawaz Shaikh (19), member of a local organisation, was stopped by some youths last night and teased and bullied.
There was a scuffle. He summoned his friends, but the youths fled.
"After some time, a group of 25 to 30 youths came to the locality where complainant lived, and they allegedly damaged his house and assaulted the family members," said a police officer.
Some vehicles were damaged and torched.
Tension prevailed in the area today but no untoward incident was reported.
