The government today announced that the term of Haryana Statute Review Committee, constituted under the chairmanship of Justice (retd) Iqbal Singh, would come to an end on September 24, an official release said here.
The five-member committee was constituted in July 2015, to make an inquiry and put forward its findings and recommendations with respect to reviewing and repealing obsolete laws.
It was to identify laws which were "not in harmony with the existing climate of economic liberalisation" and needed change, and also, laws which required amendments and put forward suggestions for the same, an official spokesman had said earlier.
References made by ministries or departments in respect of laws which have a bearing on the working of more than one department were also to be considered.
The committee was to revise the state acts of general importance so as to simplify them and remove any anomaly, ambiguity and inequity and convey its views to the government on any subject related to law that may specifically be referred to it by the government.
