Theatre operator detained under Goondas Act for piracy

A cinema theatre operator was today arrested for allegedly producing pirated VCDs of new films at nearby Aruppukottai and booked under the stringent Goondas Act.
Acting on a tip-off, Anti-video piracy Police Inspector Nagarajan arrested the operator from the theatre and seized VCDs of the new films, police said.
Police said already three piracy cases were pending against the operator and hence he was detained under the Goondas Act on the remcommendatiuon of Virudhunagar District Collector T N Harirajan and lodged in prison.
