He condemned the attack, in which seven pilgrims were killed last night, and described it as a "cowardly act".
"We are taking all the necessarysteps to ensure that such incidents do not happen again. We are saddened by this attack and we condemn it. This is a cowardly attack on innocent children and women and its perpetratorswill not be spared," the Union Minister of State for Home told reporters at the airport here before leaving for New Delhi.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had taken cognisance of the matter and the NDA government was "very serious" in tackling the menace of terrorism, said Ahir.
Seven Amarnath pilgrims, including six women, were killed and 19 injured when their bus came under terrorists' gunfire in south Kashmir's Anantnag district last night.
