Thousands of devotees on Tuesday joined the 'Chari Mubarak' procession to Budha Amarnath shrine at Poonch in Jammu, according to officials.
The holy procession, led by Swami Vishavatmanand Saraswati, was taken out from 'Dashnami Akhara' temple complex to Budha Amarnath shrine at Mandi, they said.
Special rituals amidst chanting of vedic mantras were performed at the Akhara temple where Deputy Commissioner Rahul Yadav, DIG Rajouri-Poonch Range Vivek Gupta and SSP Poonch Ramesh Angral were present, the officials said.
Swami Vishavatmanand Saraswati appealed for unity, tranquillity, brotherhood and peace in the region.
The speakers included former Deputy Chairman Legislative Council Jahangir Mir, Poonch Bar Association President Mohd Zaman, SD Sabha President Satish Sasan among others, the officials added.
