Three-day garden festival saw 30,000 footfalls

The three-day long 30th Garden Tourism Festival, at the 'Garden of Five Senses' here, which attracted over thirty thousand people concluded today.
The visitors not only bought numerous varieties of plants but also spent quality time with their friends and family in the lush green gardens, a release by Delhi Tourism said.
The festival commenced on February 17 and was inaugurated by Kapil Mishra, the Minister for Tourism, Delhi.
The theme for the festival was 'Skills in Gardening' and in consonance with that visitors were informed about how gardening can contribute in bettering both the health and the environment, the release said.
Information was also given regarding the different medicinal plants, showcased at the event, and the properties of each of them.
"Various nurseries showcasing plants for theme gardens, tray gardens and indoor areas, had put up exclusive stalls," it said.
Apart from flowers and plants, organic items, books, medicinal plants, gardening accessories, etc., were also available for sale.
According to Delhi Tourism, one of the major highlights of the floral festival was the '3D street art' that provided three dimensional impression on two dimensional surface.
Various music bands, folk artists and cultural performances by various academies of Delhi government entertained the crowd during the three days.
Competitions were also held in 30 different categories in which NDMC, Manav Rachna University, CPWD, SDMC, Aditya Birla Group and Hansraj College were rewarded for their best display under various categories of the competition.
The 'Garden of Five Senses' is at a kilometre from Mahavir Sthal on the Mehrauli-Badarpur road, near Saket metro station.
