The three families who ruled Jammu and Kashmir denied reservation to Gujjars and Bakerwal tribal communities staying in border areas of the state, BJP Working President J P Nadda said here on Monday.

The BJP leader was speaking at a campaign rally of the party for the October 21 Maharashtra Assembly elections and did not name the Muftis, the Abdullahs and the Gandhis.

"People from Gujjars and Bakerwal tribal communities staying in border areas of Poonch, Rajouri and Udhampur are 'rashtra bhakts' and they help security forces in protecting the nation," Nadda said.

"But you will be surprised to know that in the three families who did politics in Jammu and Kashmir never reserved a seat for the tribal community in the state Assembly," he said.

Nadda expressed confidence that people from these tribal communities will reach legislature.

The BJP leader said people of India are happy that Article 370 has been abrogated, but people of Jammu and Kashmir are more happy over the decision.

"Jammu and Kashmir doesn't mean only Baramulla and Sopore but extends from Zanskar, Kargil, Drass, Laddakh, Poonch, Rajouri to Udhampur," he said.
