Addressing a press conference here, Senior Superintendent of Police Amol V Homkar, who was accompanied by Superintendent of Police (city) Chandan Kumar Jha, said a special police team constituted to look into the case had arrested three persons-Sambhu Singh, Jiva Thakur and Sunil Kedar, who was an original resident of Saugol police station of Solapur district of Mahrastra but living in a rented house here, few days ago in this connection.
Police has recovered a gold biscuit weighing 721 grams worth Rs.20 lakh, Homkar said adding the stolen gold jewellery was melted and given the shape of the biscuit.
Police also recovered Rs.22,000/- cash from him and a mobile phone used in the crime, he said.
Claiming that the case have been cracked, Homkar said police had earlier recovered Rs.1.12 lakh cash, 1150 grams of melted silver jewellery stone from the house of the transporer, silver oranament weighing 400 grams, one mobile phone and one motorcycle purchased from the stolen money from the three persons arrested.
