Three Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), weighing 5 kg each, were today recovered by the Army from a village near the Line of Control in Kupwara district of Kashmir.
"Three IEDs were recovered today from the border village of Amrui, Karnah Tehsil along the LoC in the frontier Kupwara district," an army release said here.
"The vigilant troops saw some suspicious movement near the LoC during the early hours today. Area was searched resulting into detection of three IEDs of 5 kg each, smuggled from the Pakistan-occupied Kashmir by the terrorists for disruption of the elections," it said.
Timely action by the alert troops foiled the attempt to smuggle IEDs into Kashmir at a time when the Assembly elections are due to take place in the state.
