Three Indian cities among top 100 of 'Best Value City Index 2015'

Amritsar, Jaisalmer and Thiruvananthapuram feature in a top 100 list that covers cities from India to Peru and from US to Australia

Three Indian cities - Amritsar, Jaisalmer and Thiruvananthapuram - feature in the top 100 list of highest quality service in hotels in terms of giving the best value for money, as per a study by leading global hotel search website trivago.

This top 100 list scans cities from India to Peru and from the United States to Australia.

Most of the cities on the list have a lot to explore and the offered accommodation in these areas are economical with highly rated services, according to trivago's 'Best Value City Index 2015'.

"This list clearly shows that small cities are coming into focus by travellers around the world and hotels in small cities are providing quality service while maintaining low prices," trivago's Abhinav Kumar said.

Holy city Amritsar in Punjab is ranked sixth with a score of 96.52 per cent, where hotels have been rated in terms of service and the value they give for money, the report said.

Jaisalmer, the city in Rajasthan famous for forts and historical architecture, sand dunes and camel safaris has made it to the 12th position with a score of 96.37 per cent.

Thiruvananthapuram, the capital of Kerala, has secured the 15th position with 96.19 per cent score.

"It is an important destination for both foreign and local tourists, having vast coast lines and famous beaches like Kovalam and Sanghumukham beaches", the report said.

The trivago Hotel Price Index shows the average overnight accommodation prices for a standard double room on trivago. Scaling up to 100, the Best Value Index lists the best combined score on consumer rating and average hotel price.

Mostar in Bosnia and Herzegovina (97.37 per cent) topped the chart followed by Novi Sad in Serbia (97.18 per cent)for providing the best of services and value for money.

Lijiang in China with 96.99 per cent score came in third place, Plovdin in Bulgaria (96.96 per cent) in fourth and Szeged in Hungary with 96.53 per cent was ranked fifth.

The trivago Best Value Index provides an overview of the best valued destinations worldwide by using a specifically tailored algorithm that combines the trivago Hotel Price Index with trivago's Reputation Ranking for hotels.
