Three labourers killed in quarry mishap

Three labourers were killed and another injured after a portion of the sand in a quarry where they were working caved in on them at Kondayampatti area in the district today, police said.
The labourers were engaged in digging operations when the sand suddenly caved in on them along with some stones, Inspector Guruvenkataraj said.
"The exact cause of the mishap is being investigated. What we know is that the mishap occured during a drilling exercise in the quarry," he told PTI.
While the injured labourer was hospitalised, the bodies of the three victims have been sent to Rajaji Government General Hospital for autopsy, he said.
