The tempo carrying students and other passengers met with the accident killing Ravi (13), Arvind (10) and Ram (11) on the spot.
Out of the 13 injured, seven are students, police said adding that they have been admitted to hospital.
Meanwhile infuriated over the accident, the locals resorted to traffic jam on Banda-Mahoba road and also indulged in arson.
Demanding compensation for the victims and injured, protestors set two trucks and as many tempos besides some roadside kiosks on fire, police said.
City Magistrate R.K Srivastava said that the condition of two injured was serious and they have been referred to Kanpur hospital for treatment.
