The four (three women and human trafficker) were held around 8 am this morning when they were trying to enter the state from the Foreigner check-post set up at Jiribam district on the Assam-Manipur border, the officer said.
While the trafficker has been identified as 45-year-old Nasir Ali, the actual identity of the three women are yet to be confirmed as they could not speak Bengali language but were able to communicate in Burmese language.
The state police are on high alert to check any possible infiltration of Rohingyas after Chief Minister N Biren Singh told them to beef up security along the 364 kilometre long Indo-Myanmar border to prevent any possible influx of Rohingyas.
