Himachal Pradesh government today said three workshops run by Himachal Pradesh Road Transport Corporation for assembling new buses, would be shut down soon.
State transport minister G S Bali said this while replying to a question from BJP member Vikram Singh Jaryal and Congress member Ajay Mahajan during Question Hour in the Assembly.
"The buses assembled in the Himachal Pradesh Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) workshops were of poor quality and had leaking roofs. We will soon shut down all three workshops in the state," he said.
HRTC has its workshops for assembling buses at Jasur, Parwanoo and Mandi.
HRTC had recently got 29 new buses, including eight Volvo, 16 AC deluxe and five ordinary buses on wet lease, which have been deployed on 16 routes, he said.
There was complete transparency in procurement of the vehicles on wet lease and global tenders were floated in consultation with All India Transport Association, Bali said.
Replying to a question of Congress member Asha Kumari, Rural Development minister Anil Sharma said re-organisation of Panchayats could be considered on resolutions sent through deputy commissioners on the eve of 2015 Panchayat elections.
Asha Kumari had said, delimitation of Assembly constituencies was done on the basis of patwar circles and many panchayats formed part of two constituencies leading to administrative problems.
Replying to a question of another Congress member Bamba Thakur, revenue minister Kaul Singh Thakur said, Bhot, Bodh, Gaddi, Gujjar, Jad, Lamba, Khampa, Kanaura, Kinnara, Lahaula, Pangwala, Swangla, Beta, Beda, Demba, Gara and Zoba communities have got tribal status, even if they did not reside in tribal areas.
