A tiger was Friday found dead in the forest near Hirni River in Madhya Pradesh's Seoni district, an official said.
Divisional forest officer T Suliya said the tiger's body was found by a patrolling team in a forested area near Hirni River, some 40 kilometres from here.
The tiger's post mortem revealed that it may have died due to sepsis of an infected wound on the hind legs, he informed.
Suliya said the tiger's viscera had been sent for examination to find out the exact cause of death.
The district also houses the Pench Tiger Reserve.
