Janki Prasad was attacked and dragged away by the tiger into the cane field while the farmer was irrigating his paddy crops near Chhedipur village, the forest department said.
Hearing Prasad's cries, the locals rushed to his rescue following which the animal disappeared into the neighbouring forests.
This is the fourth time that a man has been killed by a tiger since August 15.
Prasad's death sparked protests by the villagers, who halted the traffic on busy Gola-Khutar road and expressed their angst against the forest department officials.
The three persons who were killed in such attacks before were Saraswati (14), Tikaram (59) and Baburam (60).
