While Trinamool Congress got 44.9 per cent of the vote share (2,45,64,523 votes), the AIADMK managed 40.8 per cent of the total votes polled (1,75,27,870 votes), according to data collated by the Election Commission till this evening. The Commission said the final figures could change.
In Assam, where Congress lost power to BJP, the former's vote share was 31 per cent (52,38,665 votes) while the latter got 29.5 per cent share (49,92,185 votes). This is mainly because BJP fought on lesser number of seats as compared to Congress and left some seats for its smaller allies.
In Kerala, key LDF components CPI and CPM managed 8.1 per cent (16,43,878 votes) and 26.5 per cent (5,33,65,124 votes) respectively. They wrested power from UDF.
Major UDF constitutent Congress in Kerala managed 23.7 per cent vote share (47,94,405 votes).
In Puducherry, Congress-DMK alliance wrested power from AINRC. The Congress' share was 30.6 per cent (2,44,886 votes), while its ally DMK managed 8.9 per cent or 7,0836 votes.
The AINRC, which lost, got 28.1 per cent vote share (2,25,082 votes). The AIADMK, which retained power in neighbouring Tamil Nadu, managed a vote share of 16.8 per cent (1,34,597 votes).
