Mocking the protest of Trinamool Congress against the rise in communal forces in the country, the Left Front today claimed that only the Left forces can fight against communalism.
"Only the Left parties can fight against the rise of communal forces in the country and state. No other forces can fight them. Those forces like Trinamool Congress, who are suppressing the democratic rights of the masses shouldn't talk of fighting communal forces," CPI(M) state Secretary Biman Bose said while addressing a rally against the rise of communal forces in the country.
"The TMC is an indisciplined party. We are a disciplined party," Bose said.
The 10-party Front along with seven other left parties today organised a rally in the heart of city from Mahajati Sadan in Central Kolkata to Rabindra Sadan in Southern parts of the city.
The rally was attended by leaders of 17 Left parties.
Bose also mocked at TMC's scheduled rally against communal forces near the Gandhi Statue in Kolkata.
"Today the Chief Minister and her party leaders also conducted a rally against communal forces. They have been organising this rally for past one or two years. They can obviously do that. But what was the statement of TMC leaders who were then in Congress in 1992 when the Babri Masjid was demolished," he wondered.
"We have been holding this rally against communalism for past two decades. Today our rally which was planned since November 13 was stopped because it would create problem for TMC. I want to ask why? Please stop such undemocratic behaviour," Bose said.
