Tamil Nadu Government should put political pressure on the Central Government for constitution of Cauvery Water Management Board and ensure the state's due share of water, CPI said today.
Tamil Nadu is being deprived of water by Karnataka for the last few years and the Centre, eyeing the assembly polls in that state, was acting "against" Tamil Nadu, despite the Supreme Court verdict to constitute the Board in six weeks, CPI state secretary R Mutharasan told reporters here.
The Cauvery water issue was not an issue of water only, but the question of country's unity and sovereignty and the Tamil Nadu Government should immediately convene an all party meeting to decide the future course of action, he said.
The state government should put political pressure on the Centre to get its due share of water, he said.
