Following the arrest of Censor Board CEO Rakesh Kumar by CBI in connection with a case of alleged bribery, Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar today said that processes will be made simpler so that corruption can be eliminated.
"We have taken very seriously the incidence of bribery in the Censor Board. We have already suspended the concerned CEO and will take strict action against any kind of corruption. Corruption has no place in our government and we will go ahead with our cleaning drive," he told PTI.
"We will make the processes simpler and transparent so that incidence and cause of corruption can be eliminated," he said.
Key positions within the CBFC which are vacant will be filled with suitable professionals, Javadekar said.
"Vacancies will be filled up soon with people with professional experience and integrity," he said.
He said the ministry is considering how the new processes can be adopted.
Rakesh Kumar was arrested in Mumbai for allegedly demanding Rs 70,000 as bribe for clearing a regional movie from Chhattisgarh.
