Top officials of three states meet to discuss joint naxal ops

Top police officials from Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh today held a meeting in Rajnandgaon district of Chhattisgarh to discuss extensive joint operations to be undertaken against maoists.
"The meeting was chaired by senior security adviser in the Ministry of Home Affairs K Vijay Kumar here," a senior police official said.
Chhattisgarh's Special Director General of Police (anti-naxal operations) DM Awasthi was also present on the occasion.
The senior security adviser took stock of the operations being carried out jointly on the inter-state borders against naxals and directed to continue the same approach in future, he said.
During the meeting, the strategies were also devised to thwart naxal activities on the bordering area through joint efforts of police from the three neighbouring states, he added.
Besides, strengthening of information network was also discussed in the meeting where officials suggested for preparing a special action plan for the exchange of secret information between them, he said.
Notably, a major portion of Rajnandgaon district is bordering Gondia and Gadchiroli districts of Maharashtra and Balaghat of Madhya Pradesh and maoist activities have been continuously reported in this area.
Meanwhile, the senior security adviser also congratulated Rajnandgaon police for the success in the recent encounter in Aundhi police station area wherein three naxals, including two women, were killed, the official said.
In the meeting, Additional Director General of police (anti-naxal operations) of Madhya Pradesh Sanjiv Kumar Singh, ADG (anti-naxal operations) Maharashtra D Kanakratnam, IG (Durg Range) of Chhattisgarh Dipanshu Kabra and other senior officials were present.
