: Travel channel Travelxp, as part of its plan to reach a larger audience, would tap the digital platform for launching its service in the country, a top official said today.
Currently, the channel is available across various television providers and globally it was reaching nearly 75 million homes, Travelxp Chairman and Managing Director, Prashant Chothani said here.
"In the digital presence, you will hear from us very soon on the launch of service (in India)" he said, to a query, on whether the company was looking at unveiling the service currently offered by providers like Netflix, Amazon Prime.
Chothani said it was under the initiative the company would foray into the United Kingdom market through the Freeview platform on its plan to reach 91 million homes.
"We are currently available in several countries. Right now one team is shooting in Cyprus another in Aurangabad in India. We have filmed in over 50-plus countries across the globe and in India we are offering content in Hindi, Bengali, Tamil," Chothani told reporters here.
The channel has produced more than 1,000 hours of original content, he said adding the content strategy was destination, food, nature, culture, heritage and lifestyle.
With 60 per cent of the revenues contributed from licensing of the content to other channels globally, Chothani said they have started accepting television commercials as part of generating revenues.
Referring to the foray into the UK market, he said, the channel would be available through the Freeview UK platform from April 30 onwards.
"We are the first TV channel from India to launch in the UK for mainstream audiences," he said adding the company would set up a production house in London similar to the one present in Mumbai.
Following a tie-up with Freeview which reaches nearly 16 million homes, the channel would be reaching 91 million homes globally, he said.
Travelxp would also produce local content for the United Kingdom audiences and that would be headed by Travelxp, Europe, Managing Director, Sumant Bahl, he said.
