Chief Judicial Magistrate Indranil Chatterjee granted Mondal the bail against a personal bond of Rs 1,000, according to Assistant Public Prosecutor Kuntal Chatterjee.
The court had summoned him after a case was filed in the Parui police station in connection with his alleged provocative speech.
A charge sheet was filed by the investigating officer in the CJM's court on June 24, nearly a year after the hate speech was allegedly delivered by Mondol on July 17, 2014.
Though the court asked him to appear on July 7, Mondol chose to appear today, a full week in advance.
After securing bail, he told reporters, "I respect the court, that is why I appeared today following the court order. Now law will take its own course.
