The Left front government in Tripura today decided that pulses and mustard oil would be given at a subsidised rate through Public Distribution System in wake of rise in the price of these commodities.
"People are facing the impact of skyrocketing price rise in the country. Despite our repeated request, the former UPA government did not take any positive step to check it. It is yet to be understood, what the NDA government would do. So we have decided to supply pulses and mustard oil through PDS at a subsidised rate," Chief Minister Manik Sarkar told reporters here.
Two kg of pulses and one litre of mustard oil would be given to each ration card holder with a subsidy of Rs 15 for mustard oil and Rs 10 per kg of pulses, he said.
This would entail an expenditure of Rs 40.53 crore to the state government, he said.
