Ave, 30, has been charged with attempted murder in addition to two counts of criminal possession of a weapon after the tragedy at Irving Plaza on Wednesday night, May 25, reported New York Daily News.
Ave accidentally shot himself during the incident. In a surveillance video released via Twitter by the NYPD on Thursday, the rapper appeared to be bleeding from the leg while aiming and firing a handgun backstage at the venue.
It's still unclear whom Ave was actually trying to shoot.
There have been speculations that he could have been aiming for Maino, who was coming off the stage when the shooting occurred.
As previously reported, multiple people were injured in the incident. One of the victims was Ave's own longtime bodyguard, Ronald McPhatter, who passed away after suffering a gunshot wound to the stomach.
A 34-year-old man hit in the chest and a 26-year-old woman hit in the leg are in stable condition, according to the NYPD.
T.I., who was supposed to headline that night's show, has responded to the heartbreaking news, offering his condolences on social media.
"My heart is heavy today. Our music is intended to save lives like it has mine and many others. My heartfelt condolences to the family that suffered the loss & my prayers are with all those injured," he wrote.
