With the Telangana Bill expected to come up in Parliament during the session beginning February 5, TRS Chief K Chandrasekhar Rao today held a series of meetings with leaders of various political parties here to garner support for its passage.
Rao called on JD(U) President Sharad Yadav, RJD leader Lalu Prasad Yadav and LJP Chief Ram Vilas Paswan.
Briefing reporters after his meeting with the TRS supremo, Sharad Yadav said that the process of bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh should be accomplished in an atmosphere of peace.
Seconding his views, Rao stated that there should be no animosity at the time of creation of a new Telangana state.
The JD(U) president, however, refused to reveal whether his party would back the Telangana Bill in Parliament.
Meanwhile, a TRS release said that Rao briefed the three leaders about the AP State Reorganisation Bill, 2013, which has been sent by the President to the Andhra Pradesh Assembly for its views.
According to TRS sources, Lalu Prasad and Paswan responded positively to Rao's appeal.
"The meetings are part of our party's drive to get support from other political parties for the passage of the Telangana Bill in Parliament.
"(Rao) is also slated to meet BJP President Rajnath Singh and BSP Chief Mayawati tomorrow," said TRS politburo member and former MP, B Vinod Kumar.
