Shawnawaz Ali (24) alias Ali and Sajid Khan (19) alias Shahrukh were arrested from Taltala area late last night on charges of robbing Ardhendu Dey (26) at gun-point after promising him helping him exchanging a few Rs 500 currency notes, police said.
Dey, a resident of Sahapur Colony, New Alipore in southern part of the city and one of his friend were assured by the two accused of exchanging old currency when the victims were trying to buy cigarettes in front of Park Hotel on Park St yesterday afternoon, a senior officer of Kolkata Police said.
Then reaching a place, with less number of people around, the accused duo pressed Dey on the wall on gun-point and snatched his mobile phone, one gold ring, which were later recovered from them, he said.
