Official sources said the inmates, who are reportedly divided along caste lines clashed as tempers ran high during a heated discussion on the circumstances leading to the death of an inmate Ram Balak Rai yesterday in the jail.
The two injured prisoners were taken to the jail hospital for treatment and district magistrate Jitendra Srivastava and superintendent of police Suresh Prasad Chaudhury
visited the divisional jail premises to review the law and order situation there, the sources said.
Inspector General, Prison, Anand Kishore has directed Vaishali district magistrate to order a magisterial probe in the circumstances of Rai's death in prison, the sources said.
