Two of a five-member group of Karbi Peoples Liberation Tiger (KPLT) insurgents were killed in an encounter with a joint police and army team at Rongtang village under Dolamora police station, said district Superintendent of Police Mukdhya Jyoti Mahanta.
Two 7.65 mm pistols, a revolver, ammunition and some extortion demand notes were recovered from the slain cadres, Mahanta said.
United Peoples Liberation Army (UPLA) militant Asati Bey involved in the killing of Hamren police district Superintendent of Police Nityananda Goswami last year was arrested at a place under Bokolia police station, the SP said.
